The Chamber's Government Affairs Forum hosted Maureen Crocker, executive director of the Gulf Coast Rail District today. A SRO gathering included Travis Kelly and David Benzione of Texas Central, the high speed rail operation. It seems clear that rail must be expanded in our region before gridlock suffocates us, hindering economic development. The most interesting fact was the cost comparison noted in the chart above for SH 290. Rail is more cost effective!
We will be exploring a position regarding rail funding in preparation for the next Legislative session.
